Uzbekistan.. A wave of cold knocked down the mayor of Tashkent and the deputy minister of energy

Uzbek President Shavkat Nerdiaev on Monday dismissed the deputy minister of energy, the heads of a number of gas and energy companies and the mayor of the capital Tashkent for disrupting winter preparations.

The layoffs came during an extended meeting held by Mirziyoyev with members of the government to discuss ways to ensure a stable supply of energy to the population during the winter.

Due to an unusual cold wave that has swept the country in recent days, electricity consumption has peaked at 250 million kilowatt-hours.

More than 1,000 accidents occurred in Tashkent due to increased pressure on the power grid.

According to meteorologists, as of January 10, the temperature in Uzbekistan dropped to minus 17 degrees at night, and to minus 8-10 degrees during the day.
