US: Two law enforcement officers killed in helicopter crash in Tennessee

Two law enforcement officers in Tennessee were killed when their helicopter hit power lines and crashed in a wooded area.

Officials said power wires fell onto the highway, blocking access roads while paramedics searched for the crash site.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol officer and a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy were killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Marion County, Highway Patrol Captain Travis Plutzer said.

The helicopter hit power lines on Mount Etna near Whiteside, Tennessee, sending the wires down onto Interstate 24, officials said.
