US State Department: The mention of China in the concept of NATO does not mean the activation of the alliance in the Pacific

The US State Department said that the mention of China in NATO’s strategic concept does not mean that the alliance will intensify its activities in the Indo-Pacific region.

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Douglas Jones said: “The strategic concept states that [الناتو] He acknowledged for the first time that China is pursuing a policy of undermining the rules-based order, with implications for transatlantic security. This is not about joining NATO and participating [في شؤونه]. We are talking about China’s influence on transatlantic security, NATO’s interest in it.”

NATO’s new strategic concept argues that China’s policies and ambitions run counter to NATO’s interests and values, as well as to the deepening of the strategic partnership between Beijing and Moscow.

The organization said that China “seeks to undermine the rules-based international order.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out that the NATO countries, considering China a threat to their interests at the summit of the alliance, questioned Beijing’s right to develop as one of the poles of the multipolar world.
