US Senate Passes Law to Protect Same-Sex Marriage Nationwide, Biden Comments

The US Senate passed by 61 votes to 36 a bill protecting same-sex marriage across the country, making it impossible for a ruling to undermine that right, as was the case with abortion.

In a statement, U.S. President Joe Biden said immediately after the text was passed in the Senate that “with the bipartisan passage of the Respect for Marriage Act by the Senate today, the United States is going to reaffirm the basic truth: love is love, and Americans should have the right to marry a person.” who they love.

Once approved in the Senate, the bill will go back to the House for a vote that is expected to happen quickly before it is submitted to the president for signature and publication as law.
