US justice sues Google for online ad monopoly

On Tuesday, the US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the American company Google over its leading position in the online advertising market.

The indictment alleges that the company used illegal anti-competitive practices for 15 years, increasing advertising spending and damaging media across the country.

“Today, the Department of Justice, along with the Attorneys General of California, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Tennessee, and Virginia, filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against Google over multiple instances of monopolization of digital advertising products.” according to a statement from the US Department of Justice.

The indictment alleges that Google has used illegal anti-competitive practices for 15 years, increasing advertising spending and damaging media across the country.

The lawsuit will be the second antitrust lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice against the top digital advertising company in the US.
