The Republican-majority US House of Representatives failed to elect a president for the fourth time in two days.
A number of conservative Republican lawmakers prevented Republican leader Kevin McCarthy from obtaining the 218 votes needed to become Speaker.
On the other hand, Republican Congressman Chip Roy Byron Donalds was appointed Speaker of the Council after receiving at least twelve votes in his support.
This is the first time in a century that the US House of Representatives has not chosen a president on the first ballot.
