The US authorities and representatives of the Taiwan administration held consultations in Washington to strengthen economic ties, develop trade and promote innovation.
“The United States and Taiwan have a longstanding trade and investment relationship based on shared values. This initiative will open up market opportunities, spur innovation, and ensure inclusive economic growth for our workers and businesses,” the US office said in a statement to TASS. This was stated by the representative at the trade negotiations Katherine Tay.
During the consultations, the parties “reaffirmed their common interest in developing specific ways to deepen trade and economic relations between the United States and Taiwan.”
Earlier, the Chinese authorities warned of the dire consequences of trying to tear Taiwan away from the country. Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fengyi said that if China’s territorial integrity is violated, the country will fight to the end.
