Unprecedented Pentagon announcements about new military assistance to Ukraine

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder confirmed Washington’s intention to announce on Friday, January 6, a new package of military assistance to the Kyiv authorities, including American Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

“I can confirm that a new security assistance package will be announced tomorrow and, as indicated by the White House, will include Bradley infantry fighting vehicles,” he said at a press conference on Thursday.

He added that in the coming days, the Pentagon will provide additional data on the timing of the combat training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the use of Bradley.

He pointed out that the US authorities are studying the option of conducting combat training of the Ukrainian army on the use of Patriot air defense systems on American soil.

And he added in this aspect: “The details of training in the Patriot system are still being worked out with our Ukrainian partners. I can tell you that we are looking at several opportunities, including (studying) in the US or abroad, or a combination of the two.”

In response to a question about whether the United States could supply Ukraine with Abrams tanks following the decision to supply Ukraine with Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, Ryder said: “I have no further announcements at this time. I repeat that tomorrow we are ready to announce a new aid package. We will look into it.” All options are available in the medium and long term.
