The European Football Association (UEFA) on Friday released the final list of players nominated for the 2022 European Player of the Year award.
UEFA has published on its official website a shortlist of three candidates, namely Real Madrid duo, Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and French striker Karim Benzema, as well as Manchester City playmaker and Belgian playmaker Kevin de Bruyne.

These are the three nominees for the 2021/22 UEFA Player of the Year award. The winner will be announced at the 2022/23 tournament. #Championship Group stage draw on August 25th!

The shortlist did not include major stars such as Liverpool’s top scorer, Egyptian star Mohamed Salah despite being crowned with many individual awards and also won three titles (English League Cup, FA Cup and Charity Shield) , in addition, the Portuguese duo Cristiano Ronaldo and the Argentinean Lionel Messi have lowered their level recently.

After the three contenders for the prestigious award – Benzema, Courtois and De Bruyne – were determined, UEFA published the ranking of the remaining players up to 15th place, and he became as follows:
4- Pole Robert Lewandowski (formerly Bayern Munich, now Barcelona) – 54 points
5- Croatian Luka Modric (Real Madrid) – 52 points
6- Senegalese Sadio Mane (ex-Liverpool, now Bayern) – 51 points
7- Egyptian Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 46 points
8 – Frenchman Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain) – 25 points
9- Brazilian Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid) – 21 points
10 – Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – 19 points
11 – Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) – 7 points
12 – Felipe Kostic (Eintracht Frankfurt) – 7 points
13 – Italian Lorenzo Pellegrini (Rome) – 5 points
14 – Trent Alexander-Arnold (England) (Liverpool) – 2 points
15 – Brazilian Fabinho (Liverpool) – 1 point.
The winner of the European Player of the Year award will be announced on August 25 in Istanbul during the group stage draw for the new Champions League season.
