Ukrainian parliamentarian: Kyiv asked Washington for long-range missiles for HIMARS launchers

Fedor Venislavsky, a member of the National Security, Defense and Intelligence Committee of Ukraine’s parliament, said his country had asked the United States to supply long-range missiles for HIMARS launchers.

It is noteworthy that the range of unguided American HIMARS missiles is up to 45 km, while the missiles under development have a range, according to various sources, of 70-80 km, and when using tactical missiles, the range can reach 300 km.

In a TV interview, the parliamentarian added: “Our state and government at all levels are negotiating with the American side on the need to provide us with longer-range missiles for these systems. range up to 70 km. In general, some types of these missiles can reach much greater depths.

Earlier, the United States supplied Ukraine with 8 HIMARS mobile launchers. It is planned that four more units of this type will be transferred to Ukraine.

The Pentagon has announced a new $400 million military aid package to Ukraine that includes the above-mentioned 4 launchers.

The Pentagon statement said the aid package also includes 1,000 155mm rounds, 3 vehicles, anti-artillery systems, and spare parts for military equipment.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed that the Russian army has managed to destroy at least two HIMARS launchers to date.
