Ukrainian biathlete Bech received Russian citizenship

The head of the Moscow District Biathlon Union, Alexei Nogdov, said that the process of obtaining Ukrainian citizenship by Ekaterina Bekh should be completed by the end of September.

The Russian sports channel Match TV quoted Nogdov as saying: “I think that by the end of this month she (Ekaterina Bech) will receive Russian citizenship. I, as they say, keep my finger on the pulse. They are constantly in the Study camp, and they need to receive and submit documents, a lot of technical details. Well, thank God, there is someone to trust.

Kateryna Bekh, 24, who was born in Russia’s Khabarovsk region, represented Ukraine at the World Cup last season in 2020-2021 before being dropped in April 2022.

It is noteworthy that the International Biathlon Federation (IBU) at a meeting yesterday, Friday, decided to suspend the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in international tournaments, in addition to maintaining the suspension of membership of the two countries also in the federation.
