London imposed new sanctions against Russia, which included a ban on the export and use of pound sterling and banknotes of EU countries in Russia, according to the website of the British Cabinet.
The restrictions included a ban on the export of products and goods to Russia’s maritime and oil refining sectors, according to a statement released Thursday.
The United Kingdom has also imposed an embargo on the export and supply of goods and technology related to chemical and biological weapons.
After Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine in late February to protect Donbass, Western countries, including the UK, imposed economic sanctions against Russia.
For its part, the Russian government reaffirmed its support for national companies affected by the sanctions and announced a set of measures to maintain financial and economic stability in the country.
