UAE agreed with Germany on the supply of liquefied natural gas and diesel fuel

Today, the UAE and Germany signed an agreement to supply the European state with liquefied natural gas and diesel fuel in 2022 and 2023, the Emirates News Agency WAM reported.

This agreement was concluded during the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Abu Dhabi and provides for the export of a shipment of liquefied natural gas to Germany at the end of 2022, and then the delivery of additional shipments in 2023.

WAM indicated that the direct delivery of a batch of diesel fuel will be completed in September this year, and an agreement to supply up to 250,000 tons of diesel fuel per month during 2023.

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Schultz witnessed the signing ceremony of the agreement, which reflects “a new strategic partnership to accelerate energy security and industrial growth and aims to accelerate the implementation of projects of mutual interest in the areas of energy security, emission reduction and action to climate change,” according to WAM.

It was noted that “as part of the agreement, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed a contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas to the German company RWEAG, according to which the Emirati company exports the first batch of liquefied natural gas to Germany. and put it into operation at the end of 2022. Trial operation of a floating natural gas terminal in Brunsbüttel, Germany.

WAM indicated that under the agreement, ADNOC allocated additional LNG shipments to its customers in Germany to be delivered in 2023, noting that ADNOC made the first direct delivery of a diesel fuel shipment from its production facility to Germany in September 2022, and achieved an agreement with the Wilhelm Heuer GmbH Company on the terms of the supply of up to 250 thousand tons of diesel fuel per month during 2023.

ADNOC also signed a series of agreements with German customers to export trial shipments of low-carbon ammonia, which is a carrier fuel for hydrogen, as the first trial shipment of Abu Dhabi-produced low-carbon ammonia arrived at the port of Hamburg early. this month.

WAM said Abu Dhabi-based Future Energy Company “Masdar” will step up its efforts “to explore additional opportunities in the wind energy markets in Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea in Germany to increase renewable energy production to 10 gigawatts by 2030.” to the agency.
