A man armed with a knife wounded two people in a city in southern Germany on Thursday evening before being shot dead by police, who said they were investigating a possible “Islamic or terrorist context.”
A 30-year-old man attacked pedestrians “with at least one knife” near Ansbach station, a town in Bavaria near Nuremberg, according to a local police statement. Two people were injured, their lives are not in danger, according to the same source.
The statement stated that the perpetrator “attacked the police” during their intervention, and they opened fire on him and fatally wounded him.
Eyewitnesses stated that “the man also yelled ‘Allahu Akbar’ several times during the execution,” according to police quoting them as saying they were investigating “whether the crime was related to an Islamic or terrorist context.”
