Turkey: We will file lawsuits in the courts of 120 countries in response to an insult to Islam

Turkey’s religious affairs chief Ali Erbas said his country would file lawsuits in the courts of 120 countries to oppose attacks on Islam and its symbols.

This is stated in statements made by Arbash during a meeting with reporters on Monday, when he commented on the incident with the burning of a copy of the Holy Quran in the Swedish capital Stockholm.

Erbas said the lawsuits will be filed in cooperation with attachés and advisers from Turkey’s Religious Affairs Office in 120 countries.

He stressed that the Religious Affairs Directorate plans to meet with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Wednesday via the Internet to demonstrate the collective response to the heinous incident in Sweden and some of the anti-Muslim attacks in Europe.

Erbash indicated that the Office of Religious Affairs would communicate with intellectuals in Europe to bring information to various sections of Western society.

He explained that on Sunday he discussed with the heads of units related to religious affairs, filing lawsuits in the courts of 120 countries and sending letters to various places outlining the position on the attacks.
