Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abd al-Qadir Oraloglu confirmed that Ankara will increase – starting from July 1 next year – the fee for the passage of ships through the Bosporus and Dardanelles by more than 8%.
“From July 1, 2023, we will again increase this fee to $4.42 (an increase of 8.3%),” Oraloglu was quoted by the Zvezda newspaper.
And last Monday, the Aydınlık newspaper wrote referring to the decision of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey on the planned increase in fees for the passage of ships through the Bosporus and Dardanelles. She added that the country’s revenues after the adoption of this decision this year could reach 900 million dollars.
In October last year, the Turkish authorities increased the fee for the passage of merchant ships through the Bosporus and Dardanelles by five times, to $4.08.
