The Turkish Ministry of Defense has revealed the results of its operations against so-called “terrorists” in areas of northern Syria and Iraq since the beginning of the current world.
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, in his speech during a meeting using video technology with the heads of Turkish units operating on the Syrian-Iraqi border and outside the country, stressed: “Turkish forces will continue to fight terrorism inside and outside the country until the last terrorist is eliminated , and the security of the Turkish borders is ensured”, pointing to the “recent increase in terrorist attacks in northern Syria, especially from the areas of Manbij and Tal Rifaat, and the fact that the Turkish army is responding to the terrorists as necessary.”
Akar explained that “Turkish forces have neutralized 35,268 terrorists since July 24, 2015,” noting that “Turkish forces have neutralized 1,999 terrorists in northern Syria and Iraq since the beginning of this year, as well as 277 terrorists as part of Operation Claw Castle.”
On April 18, Turkey launched Operation Lock the Claw against strongholds of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Ankara classifies as a “terrorist organization”, in the Mtina, Zab and Afshin Basian regions in northern Iraq.
