Turkey Refuses to Participate in US and European Sanctions on Russia, Says Cavusoglu

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that his country will not join the unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and the EU against Russia.

“We will not join the unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and the EU on Russia. We proceed from our own interest and prosperity. At the same time, we are closely monitoring the implementation of the provisions of the Montreux Agreement,” the minister said. added today in an interview with Lider Haber.

The Turkish minister directed his criticism to the single candidate of the Turkish opposition in the presidential elections, the head of the Republican People’s Party, Kamal Kılıçdaroğlu, who said in an interview with the BBC that if he came to power, he would give priority to developing relations with the West, and not with the Kremlin.

And the Turkish Foreign Minister added: “Well, you remember, he said something completely different at one of the gatherings, and said that nothing would threaten relations between Turkey and Russia. He is inconsistent (in his statements).”
