Tunisian Anas wins US Open

Tunisian Anas Jaber became the first to reach the semi-finals of the US Open, the last Grand Slam tournament, by defeating Australia’s Ayla Tomljanovic in straight sets without a response.

The Tunisian star, ranked fifth in the world, defeated her Australian rival 6-4, 7-6.

Anas became the first Arab and African player in the open era to reach the semi-finals of the US Women’s Open.

Anas, 28, will face French Caroline Garcia or American Coco Gauff in her quest to reach the second final of her professional Grand Slam career after she lost the Wimbledon final, the third Grand Slam to Yelena Rybakina of Kazakhstan at the start July.
