Tunisia. Central Bank raises the main interest rate

On Friday, the Central Bank of Tunisia announced an increase in the main interest rate.

The central bank raised its key interest rate by 75 basis points, from 7.25% to 8%, to curb inflation.

This is the third increase approved by the Central Bank, as it previously raised the main interest rate by 75 basis points in May last year, and by 25 basis points in October.

The central bank also decided to raise the minimum interest rate on deposits to 7 percent.

Thus, the inflation rate in Tunisia jumped to a record high of 9.8 percent in November from 9.2 percent in October.
