Trump: I replenished reserves, and Biden uses them

Former US President Donald Trump said his successor, Joe Biden, is depleting the country’s strategic oil reserves in an effort to cut fuel prices as much as possible ahead of the fall election.

Trump expected a sharp rise in gas prices by the end of the campaign.

“I replenished these strategic reserves … which have not been replenished in years,” he said. “I did it at the right price when prices were at an all-time low. I replenished them, and he (Biden) is using them to bring prices down as much as possible before the elections.”

“Immediately after the election, prices will double and be higher than anyone can imagine,” Trump added, noting that the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is for war, not for elections.

And the White House recently resorted to unprecedented intervention to lower the prices of basic commodities, and managed to bring the price of gasoline down slightly over the past three months, averaging $3.68 a gallon, down $1.33. compared to the peak in June.

Crude oil inventories in US emergency reserves fell to 434.1 million barrels, the lowest level since 1984, almost 38 years, according to the US Department of Energy.
