Trade turnover between Russia and Japan grew by 10% in 11 months of 2022 despite sanctions

The data of the Ministry of Finance of Japan showed that the volume of trade between Russia and Japan increased, despite the sanctions, for 11 months of 2022 by 10% compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the ministry, the volume of this indicator reached about 18 billion dollars. The main factor behind the growth in the volume of trade was the increase in energy prices in the world market.

The volume of Japanese imports from Russia in value terms immediately increased by 35%.

It amounted to about $13.89 billion (at the current exchange rate) compared to the same period last year.

Russia is one of the largest suppliers of LNG to Japan, accounting for about 9% of all imports of this type of fuel.
