Apple revealed that starting on February 13, app store prices in the UK and numerous other nations will increase. The adjustments are being made due to changes in taxes and currency exchange rates.
In Colombia, Egypt, Nigeria, Hungary, Norway, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, the cost of apps and in-app purchases will increase. Due to a three percent reduction in the value-added tax (VAT) rate, prices in Uzbekistan will decrease. The price chart for the Apple App Store [PDF] includes the most recent prices.
Prices remain the same in Ireland, Luxembourg, Singapore, and Zimbabwe. Still, due to changes in the VAT, profits will be slightly different.
Ireland: A 9% to 0% reduction in the country’s value-added tax rate for electronic newspapers and periodicals
Luxembourg: The value-added tax rate was lowered from 17% to 16%.
Singapore: The goods and services tax rate has increased from 7% to 8%.
Zimbabwe: The value-added tax rate has increased from 14.5% to 15%.
According to Apple, local developers selling in Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan should see an increase in profits by the end of January.
To allow for more variety in App Store pricing, Apple revealed plans to give developers access to an extra 700 price points in December. The new rules will take effect for all apps in the spring of 2023 and allow for prices as low as 29 cents or as high as $10,000.
