The White House defends the veracity of Biden’s account of his conversation with bin Salman about the Khashoggi killing.

White House press secretary Karen Jean-Pierre urged reporters to believe US President Joe Biden’s claim that he raised the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

TASS quoted her as saying: “He was very clear about his position on the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. He mentioned it from the very beginning of their meeting.”

Jean-Pierre’s comments came in response to reports that Saudi officials denied such a conversation between Biden and bin Salman.

She also urged Jean-Pierre to focus on Biden’s own version of events.

Earlier, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir, who was present at the meeting between Biden and bin Salman, said he did not hear the US president talk about the responsibility of the crown prince for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.
