The United Nations Peace Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) announced that it has “upgraded its forces” to support the army in the fight against the M23 rebels who continue their offensive in the east.
On its Twitter account, the UN forces wrote: “Monosco strongly condemns the fighting carried out by the March 23 movement and its dire consequences for the civilian population, and demands an immediate cessation of all forms of hostilities”, noting that the army was provided with “air support , intelligence and technology.
