The truth about Barcelona talks to reinstate Messi and Saint Germain

Argentinian Lionel Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain is expiring at the end of the current season, sparking rumors of his return to Barcelona as the Paris administration seeks to extend his contract for at least another year.

The Marca newspaper has denied reports that the 35-year-old could return to Barça next summer on a free transfer.

She indicated that no talks had taken place between the two sides so far, as Barça officials had not contacted the club’s historic goalscorer to reinstate him.

In turn, the management of the Paris club is seeking to strengthen the Argentine legend Messi by extending his contract until the summer of 2025.

It is reported by Radio Cadena Ser. The Spaniards, on Thursday, that Saint Germain made an offer to Messi in recent days to extend his contract for two additional seasons.

Radio said the offer includes signing Messi for a year, with an option for another season, to ensure he stays with the French team until he turns 38.

But the proposal does not include a salary increase for the Argentine, as it requires him to pay a similar salary, which is 30 million euros per year after taxes.

Messi remains open to all options, but he prefers to settle his position after the end of his participation in the Argentina squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
