The Sudanese Ambassador in Moscow Reaches Out to Reestablish Direct Flights With Russia

Sudanese Ambassador to Moscow Muhammad al-Ghazali al-Tijani Siraj said that Khartoum is seeking to resume direct flights between Sudan and Russia.

“In Soviet times, there were direct flights, and Aeroflot operated flights to Sudan and used Khartoum airport as a hub for flights to other destinations,” the ambassador said in an interview with the Novosti agency published on Sunday.

He continued: “I hope to consider this issue and return to direct flights between Russia and Sudan,” adding that this issue “has not yet been discussed with the Russian side.”

He added that the move would facilitate the movement of people and trade and would positively impact bilateral relations.
