The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered Russian forces in Syria to help the country’s authorities cope with the consequences of the earthquake that hit the country.

According to the statement of the ministry: “The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu instructed the commander of the grouping of Russian troops in Syria to assist in the elimination of the consequences of the earthquake that occurred in the territory of the republic. “

The ministry confirmed that more than 300 Russian servicemen and 60 military engineering units are taking part in the aftermath of the earthquake in Syria.

Soon, the Russian Reconciliation Center deployed six humanitarian aid points for the victims, including food and basic necessities.

Early on Monday morning, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey, killing 1,498 people and injuring 7,634, according to the latest data.

There were also reports of destruction in several Syrian regions, earthquakes were felt in the Lebanese capital Beirut. The number of victims in Syria has so far reached more than 700 people, about 1300 were injured.
