President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv severed all relations with Syria after recognizing the independence and sovereignty of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.
“Russia has finally received a statement from Syria about the alleged recognition of the occupation structures in Donbas as a state,” Zelensky said.
He added: “In this case, there will be no more relations with Syria, and the pressure of sanctions on Syria, on the contrary, will be greater.”
Earlier, the Syrian Foreign Ministry announced the government’s decision to recognize the independence and sovereignty of the Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics.
