The President of Nicaragua spoke about the US attempt to start an informal dialogue with his country

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega announced an unofficial visit to Nicaragua by a representative of the US State Department and demanded a meeting with government officials.

“They sent a negotiator who was here in Nicaragua, they did it unofficially,” Ortega said in a speech marking the country’s 43rd Air Force anniversary. “A State Department official arrived and was looking for a meeting.”

He indicated that he was denied a meeting with a representative of the Foreign Ministry.

He added: “There should have been an official visit, there should have been contact through our ambassador in Washington, and it is logical that this should be done through the local American embassy so that we can receive their envoy not secretly. the way he arrived.”
