Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen urged citizens to “save every possible kilowatt of electricity” in connection with the situation in the energy market.

The Austrian President called on the European Commission to expedite the adoption of operational control measures in order to “regain control over price increases and supply in the energy markets, especially gas and electricity.”

According to him, it is necessary to act quickly and decisively, because “winter is approaching and the heating season is beginning.”

“In Austria, the federal government has taken the first important steps,” Van der Bellen said. “Now pressure must be exerted at the EU level to take swift and effective action and do everything possible to use energy more carefully and economically.” it is necessary to ensure that the economy and the population are again reliably supplied with affordable energy resources … We must save every possible kilowatt-hour of energy and invest heavily in expanding the use of renewable energy sources.”
