The North Korean leader expressed condolences to Beijing on the death of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

North Korea’s Central News Agency reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has sent a message of condolence to Chinese President Xi Jinping over the death of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

In his letter to the Chinese leader, Kim Jong-un expressed “sincere condolences”, calling the deceased “a great contributor to the cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.”

North Korea’s central agency said the report indicated that the former Chinese president “firmly supported and encouraged the socialist cause of the North Korean people and made positive efforts to promote and develop the traditional friendship between North Korea and China.”

It was also reported that Kim also sent a wreath to the coffin of the former Chinese president through the North Korean ambassador to China on Thursday.

China announced AndIts former president Jiang Zemin died at the age of 96 from leukemia.
