The new British aircraft carrier crashed shortly after leaving the coast

The new British aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales went out of action shortly after it left the coast of Great Britain to participate in joint exercises with the United States, Sky News reports.

The network reported that a £3bn aircraft carrier was out of action near the Isle of Wight while it was being investigated.

A spokesman for the British Navy said the carrier had a “mechanical problem”, without elaborating.

Shortly after leaving the coast, Navy Lookout reported that it had suffered a “major technical failure”.

Reports indicated that the malfunction could be caused by damage to the carrier’s right propeller shaft.
