The Manchester United coach spoke about the continuation of Ronaldo in the team

Manchester United boss Eren Ten Hag has confirmed he wants Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Old Trafford despite turning down the striker’s services as a striker for two successive Premier League matches.

Ronaldo started on the bench during the Red Devils’ 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday before coming on as a substitute in the final twenty minutes to little effect. The Portuguese did not participate in the victory over Liverpool in the previous match.

The Portuguese have been under pressure this summer to join this season’s Champions League side after United failed to qualify for the continental competition.

But Ronaldo has found it impossible to attract the best clubs in Europe as there have been recent reports of him being linked to clubs such as his former side Sporting CP, Italy’s Napoli and France’s Marseille.

Before the media, Ten Hag confirms that he wants Ronaldo to stay: “We played with him, so we want him to stay. This is what we want and we hope for it.”

United have been linked with the inclusion of some strikers to make up for Ronaldo’s departure, such as the Brazilian Anthony from Ajax Amsterdam, who played under Ten Hag for the former Dutch team.

However, five days before the transfer market closes, Ten Hag confirms that he will be happy even if no extras are added to the team: “We have Cristiano Ronaldo, we have Anthony Martial and we have Marcus Rashford. in order.”
