The French national team beat their Austrian counterpart 2-0 on Thursday in the fifth round of the first level of the first group stage of the European Nations League.

Rooster double, star Kylian Mbappé and veteran striker Olivier Giroud scored in the 56th and 65th minutes respectively.

And the statistical network Opta reported that Giroud, thanks to a goal against Austria, became the oldest player to score a goal for the French national team in history, at the age of 35 years and 357 days.

She added that Giroud had surpassed the previous record of Roger March, who scored a goal for France against Spain in December 1959 at the age of 35 years and 287 days.

Giroud scored his 49th international goal, just two goals behind Thierry Henry, France’s all-time leading scorer with 51 goals.

France climbed to third place in the first group of the European Nations League, bringing their score to 5 points, leaving the last fourth place to the team of Austria, whose balance was frozen at 4 points, and Croatia tops the standings of this group. with 10 points, followed by Denmark in second place with 9 points.
