The Kremlin comments on the US decision to deprive Russia of the status of a country with a market economy

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the US decision to stop viewing Russia as a country with a market economy and stressed that this decision is nothing more than a continuation of the policy of pressure on Moscow.

Peskov told reporters today, Friday, that the US decision to deprive the Russian economy of the status of a market economy is a continuation of pressure on Russia, as it does not contribute to the stability of world economic markets.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Western sanctions against Russia have failed to destabilize the Russian economy and that they cause more disruption in the European economy than in the US because the US has more “resistance” in this area.

On Thursday, the US Department of Commerce announced that the US authorities have decided to deprive the Russian economy of the status of a market economy.

“This decision is an important recognition of the growing influence of the Russian state on its economy, which puts American industries at a disadvantage when trying to compete globally,” the ministry said in a statement.
