"The keeper": Borrell criticized European diplomats for slow work

The British newspaper The Guardian reported that EU Commissioner for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell sharply criticized European diplomats for slow work and inefficiency.

“Sometimes I learn more about what is going on somewhere by reading newspapers and not from your reports,” Borrell said during a meeting with EU ambassadors.

“I have to be the most informed person in the world,” he added, urging ambassadors to act quickly and keep him informed of all developments.

He pointed out that the European Union did not live up to its expectations regarding Ukraine last February, and did not believe the information of the Americans about the impending Russian military action, saying: “He had to admit that the Americans here in Brussels told us that they were going to attack “and we refused to believe it.”
