Roy Vittoria of Portugal, coach of the Egyptian national team, said that the Pharaohs’ victory over Belgium (2:1) today, Friday, is not the only gain from a friendly confrontation.
Vittoria added at the post-match press conference: “Winning has a special taste over a competitor who has all the ingredients and solutions.”
He continued, “The players excelled at delivering what was required of them, and the teamwork and maturity shown by the team was not easy.”
The Portuguese coach touched on the brilliant results of more than one player besides Mohamed Salah, saying: “Salah is an outstanding player and there is more than one outstanding player in the Egyptian team and the team plays team football.”
Vittoria expressed satisfaction with the physical condition of the Egyptian players, noting that “the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup will come in the future.”
And he continued: “Matches with Niger and Liberia should have prepared for such strong matches as Belgium, which is natural for getting to know the players.”
It is noteworthy that Egypt did not qualify for the World Cup in Qatar and is now preparing for upcoming events, most notably the African Cup of Nations 2023 qualifiers.
