The Moldovan government announced the intention of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to provide the country with a loan of 300 million euros for the purchase and storage of natural gas.
Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spino said that Chisinau will purchase natural gas through tenders, the procedure for which will be determined by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
“An emergency tranche of 200 million euros can be used if necessary in case of possible restrictions or interruptions in the supply of natural gas. Another 100 million euros could be used to create a strategic gas reserve to be stored in Romania or Ukraine. “- wrote Spino in Telegram.
Earlier, Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa said that the country’s gas reserves amount to about 24 million cubic meters of gas, which is enough for the country for a month in summer or about a week in winter.
According to her, the authorities continue negotiations with Gazprom in order to maintain the terms of the current contract, but recognize the need to purchase additional volumes of blue fuel on the market.
