The European Central Bank has decided to raise interest rates to 0.5% for the first time since 2011.

Today, Thursday, the European Central Bank decided to raise interest rates by 50 basis points to 0.5% per annum for the first time since 2011.

This increase is the first increase in the European interest rate since April 2011, and the decision was taken contrary to expectations, as analysts had expected a 25 basis point increase.
