The dollar on the Moscow Exchange is above 57 rubles for the first time in about 3 weeks

The US currency continues to rise on the Moscow Exchange for the second day in a row, as the dollar traded above 57 rubles today, Tuesday, for the first time since June 14, 2022.

By 11:50 Moscow time, the dollar exchange rate rose by 3.95 rubles (the ruble = 100 kopecks) to 57.6625 rubles. The euro rose by 2.49 rubles to 59.4775 rubles, according to the data of the Moscow Exchange.

The fall in the Russian currency comes after the Russian ruble has soared in recent years, despite Western sanctions imposed on Moscow after it launched a military operation in Ukraine.
