The death toll in Tehran’s Evin prison has risen to 8.

The death toll from a fire and riots at Tehran’s Evin prison has risen to 8, Iranian judiciaries said on Monday after 4 people died from their puppies.

The press center of the judiciary said: “Despite treatment and procedures, 4 prisoners of Evin prison died last night, who were injured as a result of a fire and a dispute between prisoners.”

He added: “All eight of the victims were among the prisoners in the theft department,” and the center confirmed that “six of the victims are still in the hospital and their health is good.”

As a result of the events of Saturday evening, more than 70 endangered prisoners were rescued after the arrival of the Tehran prosecutor and the head of the penitentiary organization at the right time, in cooperation with the prison authorities, police, firefighters and the rescue service.

The identities of all the dead have been communicated to their families, and their names will be released later.
