Fans won’t have to wait long to watch The Boogeyman again
Fans of The Boogeyman directed by Rob Savage won’t have to wait too long to watch the film again. It will be available for digital purchase on August 29, followed by a physical Blu-ray and DVD release on October 10. The film, based on Stephen King’s short novella, features Vivien Lyra Blair, Chris Messina, and Sophie Thatcher, and was released in theaters in June.
The Plot
The story revolves around Sadie (Thatcher) and Sawyer (Lyra Blair) who, along with their therapist father, Will (Messina), struggle to come to terms with the unexpected death of their mother. The situation takes a turn for the worse when a helpless patient visits their house, bringing with them a sinister being known as The Boogeyman, who feeds off their misery. The family must come together to overcome the traumatic experience and permanently rid their home of the demonic presence. While the film is based on Stephen King’s well-known short story, it expands upon the plot, giving it a more sequel-like feel.
Release Details
This month, The Boogeyman will be available for digital purchase through platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango/Vudu. However, the physical release of the film will only occur in October. Those who wait until then will be rewarded with special features, including a brand-new featurette titled “Into the Darkness.” In this featurette, the actors and crew discuss the process of adapting Stephen King’s horrifying story for the big screen. Additionally, the release will include an outtakes reel for those seeking lighter content after the main feature. While no official date has been announced, the movie is expected to stream on Hulu in the future, following its initial plan as a direct-to-streaming release. However, plans were altered after positive test screening reactions.
