Tesla shares fell more than 8% after Musk tweeted about Russia’s referendum

Shares of Tesla Motors fell more than 8% after the statements of the owner and founder Elon Musk regarding the referendum in Ukraine.

Earlier Monday, Musk proposed holding referendums under UN supervision in territories that Russia had recently joined.

Data from the New York Stock Exchange showed an 8.4% drop in Tesla shares following a tweet by Musk, in which he suggested “as a first step, re-hold UN-supervised referendums in territories recently annexed by Russia.”

According to Musk, Crimea will formally be part of Russia with a reliable water supply, and Ukraine can take a neutral position.
