Tehran: Removal of vice patrols does not mean stopping this unit, but stopping its patrols until further notice

Iran’s state prosecutor said, commenting on the disruption of the morality police patrols, that it is natural that these patrols are not being conducted now, noting that this does not mean stopping this unit, but rather stopping its patrols until further notice.

Iranian State Prosecutor Mohammad Jaafar Montazeri added: “The Iranian judiciary has nothing to do with the vice police and this police has been suspended by the same party that created it earlier…”.

He continued by saying: “Knowing that these police patrols are no longer present in Iranian cities after the accident that led to the death of Mahsa Amini in the morality police station and the events that followed this case. Naturally, these patrols are not carried out in the current situation due to the sensitivity they are causing after the recent unrest in the country … and this issue does not mean a decision to stop this unit, but rather to stop its patrols on the ground until further notice.

In the relevant context, Montazeri said: “The House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution are working on studying the issue of the veil, and the results of these discussions will be announced within 15 days. drawing up a draft law on the veil. These decisions should be made on the basis of economic affairs.” The judiciary does not seek to disrupt the work of the Social Protection Police (vice police), but after the institutions look for wise solutions to the problem.
