Tehran is ready to resume relations with Riyadh and hold a meeting with the Gulf countries

Iran expressed its readiness to resume relations with Saudi Arabia, open the embassies of the two countries and hold a joint meeting with foreign ministers of countries bordering the Persian Gulf and other neighboring countries.

During the “Third Tehran Forum for Dialogue”, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said his country was ready to reopen relations with Saudi Arabia and open the two countries’ embassies “if Riyadh is ready for it”, and added that Riyadh must decide to pursue a constructive policy with Tehran.

The Iranian minister also expressed his country’s readiness to hold a meeting at the level of defense and foreign ministers of neighboring countries and countries bordering the Persian Gulf “to establish security in the region in cooperation with these countries and establish peace throughout the world.” “

He welcomed the “restoration of trust and constructive cooperation with neighboring countries, especially with the countries of the Persian Gulf.”

“We consider our neighbors in Western Asia, with whom we have common civilizational, cultural and religious communities, as our brothers, and we consider the security and well-being of these countries as part of our security and well-being,” Iran said in a statement. The agency quotes Abdullahyan.

Amir Abdollahyan congratulated Qatar on its “great success” in hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Doha’s cooperation with the Iranian national football team.
