The Russian news agency TASS, citing an informed source, reported that NATO will conduct the Sea Breeze 2022 maneuvers in the Black Sea on the Bulgarian coast of Varna, away from the Ukrainian coast.
The source indicated that these exercises are the largest in the region since the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.
“These planned exercises are aimed at strengthening the combat cohesion of the NATO naval forces” and have nothing to do with Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, he said.
“It will be carried out in Bulgarian waters at a great distance from the northern part of the Black Sea,” he added.
He pointed out that “Ukraine or partner countries of the alliance this time will not participate in these maneuvers, unlike the previous ones.”
He indicated that 24 ships, several aircraft, helicopters, drones and about 1,400 military personnel from 11 NATO countries will take part in the maneuvers.
