The Taliban government has sharply criticized US President Joe Biden after he called Afghanistan “a place forgotten by God” and vowed to rebuild the war-torn country without any outside support.

“Those who make these statements do so out of their frustration and envy of Afghanistan,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told a press conference in Kabul.

Mujahid mentioned the restoration of peace and stability in the South Asian country after the Taliban seized power, stating that Afghans “go on with their daily lives normally.”

Mujahid added that the Taliban did not need the support of other countries to rebuild the country, stressing that the Afghans were “able” to do it themselves.

“However, our goal, as well as our need, is to strive for better and more credible diplomatic relations with the international community, including America,” he added.

He continued: “We welcome legitimate contacts and engagement with any country to strengthen mutual relations,” noting that his government representatives in their recent meetings with US officials have repeatedly stressed the need to build a “constructive” relationship so that both sides can resolve common problems. .
