Taiwan President sees US as important regional ally

“Taiwan and the United States have become important security and economic allies in the Indo-Pacific region,” Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen said Monday at a meeting with a US delegation.

A US delegation led by Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb arrived in Taiwan on Sunday, the eighth US delegation to visit the island this year and the third in a month.

In early August, a delegation led by Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, and on the 14th and 15th of the same month, a delegation led by US Senator Ed Markey visited Taiwan.

The visit of the current American delegation dedicated to the development of economic, trade and scientific cooperation will last 4 days.

“Taiwan and the United States are partners that value democracy and freedom, and are important security and economic allies in the Indo-Pacific region,” Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen said at a meeting with a delegation this morning.
