Syrian Oil Ministry: US occupation steals more than 80 percent of oil production

The Syrian Oil Ministry has announced that “American occupation forces” and their mercenaries are stealing 66,000 barrels a day from an average Syrian production estimated at 80,000 barrels in the first half of this year.

At a meeting to discuss work plans and work of subsidiaries in the first half of this year, the ministry said that oil production during this period amounted to about 14.5 million barrels with an average daily production of 80.3 thousand barrels.

The ministry explained that 14,200 barrels of this amount are delivered daily to refineries, “while the American occupying forces and their mercenaries steal up to 66,000 barrels a day from the occupied fields in the eastern region.”

The ministry said that natural gas production amounted to about two billion cubic meters with a daily production of 11.3 million cubic meters, of which 11.1 million cubic meters per day is pure gas.

The ministry indicated that 82 percent of gas production was transferred to the Ministry of Electricity.

According to the ministry, the oil and minerals sector has suffered direct and indirect losses during the ongoing crisis in Syria since 2011, estimated from the beginning of the crisis to the middle of this year in the amount of $105 billion.
